About Women Development Cell
"There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women".
As a consequence of the dominant patriarchal society, the lives of women were largely confined to
the domestic arena in the 19th and 20th centuries. Women were deprived of basic rights, including
the right to participate in public life, the right to work, right to own property in some countries.
K.B.College of Arts & Commerce for Women stands strong for the cause of women empowerment and the
Women Development Cell takes initiative in harnessing the young minds and empowering the adolescent
girls. This is an attempt to teach girls to protect themselves, to be their own guard by learning
how to act smartly and also to develop positive aggression in them to face challenging times. There
are so many feminine issues that involve a considerable amount of myths and unknown facts. The Women
Development Cell takes a call to clarify and throw light on all such issues with the help of
experts. Regular Awareness programmes are organized on the topics such as breast cancer, sexual
harassment, Streedhan, Menstruation, Intimate Hygiene and several health related issues. The cell
also from time to time commemorates powerful women catalysts of their time to inspire the young
girls. Women development cell invites trainers who train the girls in self-defense and educate them
on their basic rights. A lot of arts and craft sessions are held. The department helps them to
broaden the tough definition of their gender so that they can express themselves freely, strongly,
and happily. The cell strives hard to make girls realize that, "It’s not up to you how your story
starts, but it’s your choice to end it the way you want to".
